Classes

Advanced Home Tutoring provides professional, one-on-one tutoring for students of all ages throughout LA County. Tutors cater to all learning abilities and all subjects, grades K-12 (including SAT).

Housed at the Silverlake Jewish Community Center, the Los Angeles Chinese Cultural Center offers age appropriate Chinese language and culture classes for children and adults on Saturdays.

Classes include Mandarin, Chinese art, Chinese cooking (age five and up with a parent), and traditional Chinese dance. Parent and me classes are available for children between the ages of 18 months and three years. Pinyin and simplified characters are also taught; younger children learn through playing games and singing songs alongside traditional teaching.

LACCC also offers a summer camp program.

Family Math Adventures offers hands-on math adventures for kids ages four to 12 taught by a credentialed teacher.

Summer classes are available through the Redondo Beach Parks and Recreation Department. Private, semi-private, and school group classes can be arranged at any location.

Located in the former home of John McGroarty (1923-1944, journalist, playwright, poet laureate, and Congressman), the McGroarty Arts Center seeks to provide affordable instruction in the arts and to preserve the legacy of its namesake.

McGroarty offers four 8-week sessions of classes per year. The classes offered include dance, violin, piano, guitar, theater, painting, drawing, ceramics, and more. Classes available for children as young as two years include storytime, creative dance, preschool art, and more.

Summer art camp is offered every year (on Tuesdays in July and August) for children ages six to twelve.

Peach Tree Pottery is a unique pottery studio that
offers both private sessions and group classes in which children can learn how to use the potter's wheel.

Peach Tree offers a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere that helps increase concentration and sparks creative talent. Classes are designed to accommodate the needs of a busy family's schedule.

Children ages four to six can experience the potter's wheel
through a method called shadowing. The instructor
sits with the child so that he or she may have the
total potter's experience; this is an ideal individual
session.

Children ages seven and older relish the chance to be seated at their own wheel, unaccompanied, while creating a unique masterpiece.

Class fees include instruction, use of tools, clay and glazes, and kiln firings.

Birthday Parties can be held in the studio, where from five to eight children can make their own art work on the potter's wheel. Other possibilities include hand-building activities, pinch pots, tile trivets, coil pots, and a variety of other clay projects.

Wondernation's approach to child and parent enrichment programs is based upon sensory exploration, development, and play-to-learn workshops.

The foundation for each program is based upon age-appropriate developmental goals to help children develop a true appreciation of music, yoga, literature, and more. Wondernation's instructor team includes professional musicians, music therapists, teachers, parents, and an experienced child development staff.

Programs for parents, babies, and children include
Music and Sign Language (English and Spanish), Music and Movement, Itsy Bitsy Baby and Tot Yoga, Parent and Me Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Family Yoga, Creative Yoga for Children, Tiny Turtles, Dance, Pre-School Transition, and Zoophonics.
